Karate is for everyone
On October 5, 2025, the Niji Yama G-Warriors, in collaboration with the Para-Budo Federation, organized an alternative karate competition that was all about inclusion, cooperation, and fun. This initiative came about after the unexpected cancellation of a planned competition. Instead of letting this opportunity go to waste, they quickly switched gears and developed a new, creative concept — resulting in a very successful day.
The competition format deliberately deviated from the classic formats. There were no traditional pools; everyone competed against everyone else. Parents and para-karatekas also got involved as referees, which created extra engagement and mutual respect. During the kumite part, the dads actively helped by holding the large shields. This approach broke with the traditional division of roles and strengthened the sense of community within and around the tatami.
The atmosphere was positive and supportive throughout the day. The participants clearly enjoyed themselves, encouraging, learning, and experiencing together. Thanks to all the staff, referees, comfort referees, moms, and dads who made this day possible.
This competition once again confirmed what we stand for as an organization: karate is more than just a sport—karate is for everyone.
